Streetsport Cage Project Team
Leisure Development and Outdoor Amenities Team, East Ayrshire Council
StreetSport Initiative
The StreetSport Cages provide sports activities in communities that have been identified as hotspots by East Ayrshire's Anti Social Behaviour team, the police and local people. The project team for this initiative are Katie Kelly and Angie Bennett from Leisure Development and Bob McCulloch and John Roxburgh from Outdoor Amenities. They have a 'can do" approach and work with the police, health professionals and local people to develop funding packages for these excellent facilities. In the now 22 areas (up from 3, 12 months ago) where cages have been erected, anti-social behaviour has been virtually eliminated and positive and healthy outcomes for young people have been secured. Importantly, the reaction and support from local people has been tremendous.
