Local Government Challenge: Application Process for Contestants

The Local Government Challenge is an exciting new competition, which seeks out talented individuals and tests their ingenuity, creativity, ability to lead and potential to become top local government executives.  See ‘What is Local Government Challenge’ for more details about the competition.

Application Process now closed.  Applicants that have been short-listed will be contacted by the Local Government Challenge team by Friday 13 November 2009.

If you think you would like to take part, please follow the steps below.

Step 1: Read the Terms and Conditions

First read the ‘Terms and Conditions’, as you will be asked to confirm your acceptance of them when submitting your application.

Step 2: Register your interest

The first stage of the application process for Local Government Challenge is to register your interest in being a contestant. This does not commit you to completing the application process, but it does give you access to an online application form specifically for you.

Step 3: Fill in the on-line application form

Once you have registered your interest, you will be sent a personal link to your online application form.  This will enable you to complete and return your application form, saving it as many times as you need to until you submit your final response.  Please note that, once you submit your completed online application, you cannot re-enter and change any of your answers.

Step 4: Sit back and wait

Once you have submitted your application, you will get an e-mail confirming your application has been received.  If you do not receive such an acknowledgement within a couple of hours, please contact info@lgchallenge.org  who can assist you.  They may ask you to re-submit your application.

Next steps

Shortlisting will be carried out in two stages:

·         First sift - judges will assess all the application forms submitted by applicants against the skills set out in the ‘Terms and Conditions’.  A ‘long-list’ of competitors will be put forward to the next stage (the ‘second sift’).

·        Second sift – those competitors on the long-list will be invited to attend and make a presentation at a filming day during week commencing 26 October 2009, filmed by the Local Government Channel. The judges will assess the films of all the long-listed competitors and select a short-list of ten competitors, plus a first reserve and a second reserve.

We will notify the 10 shortlisted competitors and the two reserves by Friday 13th November 2009.

Good luck!
