Bereavement Services Team
Macclesfield Borough Council
The Bereavement Services Team has achieved the number one spot in the north and a top-five ranking nationally for the quality of its services. They show people round, explaining the burial or cremation process, which, if the person is terminally ill, can put their mind at rest and help the family left behind in funeral-arranging. In addition to high levels of sympathetic care and attention, staff have developed various initiatives. Wildlife birdboxes provide memorials, the Macclesfield Cemetery Heritage Trail tours the 68-acre site cemetery and gardens of remembrance, the team is also looking to work with schools on the social culture of the local areas, and they help groups identify graves and research family history enquiries. L to R: Robert Warhurst (Sextant), Joan Williams (Crematorium Technician), Bev Richardson (Bereavement Services Officer), Fiona Ware (Administration Assistant), Sandra Scott (Administration Assistant), and Andrew Carroll (Crematorium Technician).
