Senior Contracts Monitoring Officer, London Borough of Sutton
Few people encapsulate local government service like Bill Bailey. Over the course of a 48-year career in Sutton, Bill has been the model of a public servant. Bill started his career as a labourer in 1959, and worked his way up though the Parks services. In the early 80s, Bill moved into management, where he championed what new technology could do to enhance the Parks service. Bill has inspired generations of Sutton employees with his professionalism and pride in providing quality services for residents. Bill has a very strong sense of fairness, tenacious in his drive to get a fair deal for everyone, from those working in front-line services to senior managers.
