Karelia Court Staff Team - 2008 Winners!!
Hull City Council
Karelia Court, a supported house for adults with Autism, was forced to close by the severe flooding that affected Hull in June 2008. This was extremely upsetting for the residents, and support staff worked tirelessly to maintain a sense of normality during the emergency. In addition, they had to ensure that the temporary premises (which had been disused for a number of years) were brought up to a satisfactory condition. The imagination the staff used to secure the necessary furniture and equipment was exemplary. Their efforts are even more extraordinary when you realise that many themselves were flooded out at home.
