Mobile Library Assistant, Devon County Council
Gill Boyce has been the South Hams Mobile Librarian for 21 years, serving a large area of rural South Devon from her Kingsbridge base. Many of her borrowers are retired and appreciate the personalised service offered. Ensuring that the stock on the van meets their needs and obtaining items in a variety of formats means that their interest in books and life in general continues despite problems with mobility and visual impairment. Gill is totally committed to delivering an effective service with sensitivity and a smile, maximising her role as a social catalyst in the communities she visits.
