Luke Turner - 2008 Winner!!
Passenger Assistant - Passenger Services, London Borough of Hillingdon
Luke Turner, aged 19, is a Passenger Assistant, working for LB Hillingdon Passenger Services. Luke was personally responsible for saving the lives of two elderly passengers after the driver of the bus they were all travelling on had a massive heart attack and lost control of the vehicle. As the bus started to head rapidly towards oncoming traffic Luke grabbed the wheel and steered the bus away from the centre of the busy road. He then knocked the bus out of gear and steered the bus to safety, eventually coming to a stop after demolishing 65 feet of fencing. The two passengers were shaken up but uninjured and the driver is making a good recovery.
